Description Of Item: Seven clear perspex squares 50 mm x 50 mm x 1 mm covered on both sides with protective brown paper and five 60 mm x 60 mm 2 mm, two with 1 mm deep 45 mm diameter circular machined depressions and three with 1 mm deep annular machined depressions 45 mm and 15 mm diameter.
Historical Significance: Perspex squares used in the manufacture of scleral/haptic contact lenses. A square would be heated and a plaster mould of the patient's eye used to form the shape of the lens. This would then be machined and polished to produce the final lens for fitting.
