Description Of Item: Three identical translucent slides 255 mm x 140 mm imprinted with four sets of separated images in red and green, four sets of concentric circles with a square, an X and a circle within them and a centrally placed diamond. When fused the concentric circle targets appear three dimensional. The diamond provides a suppression check. The border of the slide contains the words TRANAGLYPH ORTHOPTIC SLIDE BC/51 and 1980 BERNELL CORP. South Bend, IN.
Historical Significance: Bernard Vodnoy established the Bernell Corporation to produce a number of binocular vision measurement and training aids. The tranaglyph 5X series allowed training of fusional convergence and divergence for prism from 1 base in to 22 base out using red-green images and red-green glasses. See also Cat.
