Description Of Item: Blue laminate covered box 335 x 335 x 145 mm with spring hinged lid secured by a chromed catch on the front edge and separate drawer. Lid has a black plastic carry handle secured in metal clamps. Drawer, 310 x 305 x 80 mm, has a round chromed knob and is secured by spring loaded ball catch. Contact lens fitting data is printed on a sheet fixed to the underside of the lid. Beneath the lid is a white plastic insert with recesses for, and containing, tweezers, a vial opener, trial contact lens cases (Cat. Nos. 2619 and 3441), two contact lens cases in use and two lens rinsing containers. The drawer contains further trial lenses.
Historical Significance: As an introduction to the Australian market Smith and Nephew offered kits of this type to promote the use of the company's lenses. Both rigid and oft lens trial sets were supplied.
