Description Of Item: Near reading test chart on card, 124 x 2054 mm, headed TEST TYPES, 7 blocks of print beginning at the top with small print and ending at the bottom with the largest print. The size of print is identified with notation V=.50 D to V=2 D.
Historical Significance: This near test chart was previously owned by Miss Ella Lillian May Pink (1890-1986), an Australian woman optometrist who qualified in optometry in London in 1915 and practised optometry in Australia from 1917 until September 1953.The reading test chart is unusual in its notation of the size of print. It is not the Jaeger notation but specified by the near 'add' in dioptres needed for reading glasses.
