Description Of Item: Black and grey hinged plastic case 125 mm x 80 mm x 15 mm containing a key pad and six LCD panels for entry of risk factor data for glaucoma as defined by the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS) 2002. The inside cover contains brief instructions. Full instructions are printed in a separate quadrifold leaflet.
Historical Significance: The S.T.A.R. was developed by Robert Weinreg, Professor of Ophthalmology and Felipe Medeiros, Assistant Professor at the Hamilton Glaucoma Center, University of California, San Diego in 2006 to calculate the risk of an ocular hypertension patient to develop glaucome within five years based on the data from the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (2002) (OHTS) and a formula originally used to calculate cardiovascular disease risk (Framingham Heart Study). The S.T.A.R. was distributed free to practitioners by Pfizer Ophthalmics.
