Description Of Item: White flat 'mailer' case 50 mm x 50 mm x 8 mm labelled Gelflex Laboratories Australia on the face with a label adhered to the back containing trial lens and lens parameters for the varichrome aspheric rigid lens contained in the right lens compartment.
Historical Significance: The varichrome rigid contact lens material was a photosensitive material the tint of which darkened when exposed to ultra violet light in a similar manner to spectacle lenses like 'photogray' and ' transitions'. The lens in the image shows a difference in tint as only part of the lens was exposed to ultra violet light just prior to taking the image.
