Historical Significance: Optical wholesalers supplied optometrists cleaning cloths with practitioner details to be given to patients with their new spectacles. the size was chosen to easily fit into the spectacle case.Charles G Jenkin was a Malvern optometrist, son of Walter Jenkin, a jeweller who was registered as an optometrist based on experience in the initial registration of optometrists in Victoria in 1936 (Reg. No. 262). Charles completed an apprenticeship as a jeweller and also qualified as an optometrist with the qualification F.V.O.A. in 1943. He retired in 1977.
