Historical Significance: Professor Ken Bowman was Dean of the Faculty of Health at the Queensland University of Technology (1990-2010) and became Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). in 2009 He had previously been Head of the School of of Optometry at QUT from 1981. He graduated in optometry at the University of Melbourne in 1970 and after practising optometry for several years took up a French Government Scholarship to do research in France under Professor Yves LeGrand. He then completed a masters degree at the University of Melbourne while working as a research fellow under the supervision of Professor Barry Cole.
