Description Of Item: Cased direct ophthalmoscope head; no battery handle or condensing lens. Metal body painted black, 5 apertures and sliding C-F selector. Single wheel of lenses. Heine company logo painted in white. Black hinged leatherette covered fitted case lined with burgundy velvet and purple satin. Ophthalmoscope head: 95 x 43 x 18 mm. Case: 160 x 125 x 38 mm.
Historical Significance: Helmut A Heine founded the Heine company in 1946 in Herrsching, Germany. The first instruments made by the company were a hand-held otoscope and a direct ophthalmoscope.
