Description Of Item: Two volumes, both hard board covers, 270 x 215 mm, in brown imitation leather with title embossed in a red and gold circle on the front, the two volumes contained in a green imitation leather box. Vol 1 p1 to 788, Vol 2 pp 715 to 1381 including index in vol 2. Stamp for Wright Library Australian Optometrical Association on fly leaf and end pages.
Historical Significance: This is the two volume version of the third edition of the classic optometry student text written by Dr Irvin Borish (1913- 2012) OD (Northern Illinois College of Optometry 1934), LLD (Indiana University 1968) and acclaimed US optometric educator. This book is a classic encyclopaedic text book on clinical optometry that was widely used, especially in the USA, and reflects the nature of optometric practice in the mid 20th C. The first edition was published in 1949. See Cat No 140. The one volume version of the 3rd edition is at Cat no. 1963.
