Historical Significance: This book is a catalogue of the Museo dell' Occhiale (Museum of Spectacles). It presents some beautiful illustrations. The Museum was established in 1986 at the instigation of Signor Vittorio Tabacchi, the president of the Safilo Group, makers of spectacle frames. It's in a remote but beautiful village in the Dolomites,Italy, and is worth seeking out as one of the most extensive displays of its type in the world with over a thousand items to view. It includes not only antique spectacles but also many interesting modern examples, some formerly worn by Hollywood stars.
