Description Of Item: Unglazed multicoloured acetate spectacle frame. Left temple marked with indecipherable words and 57/17, right temple marked Jonathan Sceats Design.
Historical Significance: Jonathan Sceats Design was formed in the 1980s by Jonathan Hennessy Sceats to produce spectacle frames of his design inspired by the Pop Art of the period. Sceats' father, Filmer was a Sydney optometrist who employed an optician who hand made frames. It was he who provided Jonathan with the technical knowledge of frame manufacture and requirements. This frame is typical of the large multicoloured designs of the 1980s designed and made by Sceats.
