Description Of Item: Hadley sunglasses marked 'TYPE G 22G/1398' and 'HADLEY' across the bridge. Nickel alloy double bridge frame with curl sides and dark grey-green glass plano lenses. Hinged blue metal case impressed with military broad arrow and '22G/1398 TYPE G/ MEDIUM'. Sunglasses: 130 x 50 mm.
Historical Significance: This pair of sunglasses was issued to the donor, Mr Hugh Gulliver, by the Army during his service in Egypt in about 1943. The sunglasses were usually provided for servicemen in tanks. Mr Gulliver worked on tanks as a mechanic during his WW2 military service.
