Historical Significance: A late 19th C manual for optometrists on refraction and the fitting of glasses published at the time the first examinations for optometrists were instigated by the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers and the British Optical Association. A. M. Whittenbury S.F.S was a South Australian optometrist who was the supplier of South Australian news for the Australian Journal of Optometry 1921 to 1925. His address at 44 Phillis Street Maylands is close to the Adelaide CBD
