James Dixon (1814 - 1896) MRCS Jan 5th 1836; FRCS Dec 11th 1843 was one of the original 300 Fellows of the Royal College of Surgeons. He is considered to have been one of the most accomplished and respected surgeons of his day. He was the contemporary of Sir William Bowman and W White Cooper. This book was originally published 1855 and had three editions. Previous owner, A. M. Whittenbury S.F.S, was a South Australian optometrist who was the supplier of South Australian news for the Australian Journal of Optometry 1921 to 1925.
