Historical Significance: This book is intended to guide optometrists in the use of diagnostic drugs as well as stains, contact lens solutions, over the counter eye preparations and eye first aid. Janet Vale MSc MPS was lecturer in ocular pharmacology at the University of Manchester. The book is a successor to the book by David Mitchell on the use of drugs in refraction (1946, 2nd ed 1959, 3rd 1964) (Cat No 592) that did much to encourage UK optometrists to use diagnostic drugs in the UK and was also used in Australia.
