Historical Significance: James T W Ingram was among the first optometrists to be registered in 1936 following the passage of the Victorian Opticians Act in 1935. The registered address is the same as that on this box. He was registered under Section 8 of the Act that offered registration to those without formal qualifications o the grounds of significant prior experience in the practice of optometry. However, this box proclaims he holds a raft UK Fellowships and, unusually among optometrists of the time, a BSc degree. Since the box record it is for J and J Ingram, the second J Ingram maybe the holder of the qualifications. James T W Ingram was clearly in practice in the 1930s
