Catalogue Number: 2861 Art nouveaux style trial frame Category: Equipment Sub-Category: Trial Frame Year Of Publication/Manufacture: c 1900 Description Of Item: Base metal trial frame, 130 x 33 mm, of unusual design with simple straight sides with loop terminals and saddle bridge. The top rims are curved in an art nouveau shape and pivot from the temporal sides of the frame to enable a trial lens to be inserted. The pivots are spring loaded to secure the inserted lenses. Historical Significance: This is similar to the trial frame in a trial lens set at Cat No.1544.
