Historical Significance: Multilens is a Swedish company that has developed and produced a range of optical solutions for persons with a reduced vision, have an eye disease, or those who work in extreme environments or those that simply want optics that are customised for a specific application. Multilens was set up in 1983 by Lars Hellstrom, who after 30 years in the optical business decided to focus on the challenge of developing special optical solutions that could solve difficult optical problems. Together with opticians, optometrists, eye care practitioners and eye doctors he created innovative special optics. Within a short space of time the whole Hellstrom family was committed and Multilens have since become leaders in low vision and special purpose optics. This item is an example of the type of lenses made.
