Description Of Item: Cream coloured opera glasses made of brass, plastic and glass. Labelled '2,5x' for magnification, '65' for fixed interpupillary distance of 65mm, and the LZOS company logo: a letter 'C' within a circle and a triangle. Lenses multicoated. Facetted pattern on barrels and focussing knob. Enclosed in original blue leather snap-fastened case. Size: 98 x 40 x 30 mm.
Historical Significance: LZOS (Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory) is based in Lytkarino, 100 km north of Moscow. In 1935 it started producing mirror reflectors. During the Second World War it specialised in optical products for military applications. Currently production includes fibre optics for endoscopy, camera lenses and large objective telescopes.
