Description Of Item: Oval-eye nickel (?) spectacle frame, 110 x 27 mm, with W bridge and curl sides. No markings but size would be 36/22. Glazed with glass tinted (Crookes A1) flat-base lenses, power approx +7.00 D sph, contained in a metal snap case, 125 x 45 mm, covered in black grained leather and lined with green velvet. No supplier's identification but on the base of the case is a small blind stamp of the word ' Swiss '
Historical Significance: The donor, Mr John Boxshall, is the grandson of a Mr John Garratt a Melbourne optometrist, who is presumed to be the successor to the practice of Miss H Moody. He practised at the same address as Miss Moody in Centeway, Collins Street, Melbourne (see Cat No. 2739 and 2740).
