Description Of Item: Goggles with small green tinted plano glass lenses, oval shape, 28 mm in horizontal diameter , and wire mesh shields surrounding each lens. The two eye pieces are joined by a brown cord and a cord attached to rings on the outer corners of the shields serves to secure the goggles on the face.
Historical Significance: A catalogue undated but printed about 1913 of Australian optical wholesaler, Arthur Cocks and Co, illustrates a similar item, item N201 Fig 42 but it appears to have a metal bridge. The illustration shows a small round tin for storage, which would require the goggles to be collapsed when stored. The cord joining the two eye pieces on this item may be the original design.
