Historical Significance: This is a short history of Optometry Queensland and Northern Territory published to commemorate its centenary in 2008. The history is presented in ten year time periods commencing 1908 with a photograph of the serving President at the start of each ten year time period. The Association was founded as the Institute of Ophthalmic Opticians in 1908, became the Institute of Optometrists Queensland in 1928, then became the Australian Optometrical Association Queensland Division in 1953. In 2004 it assumed responsibility for the Northern Territory, which was added to the Association's name. In 2014 it changed its name to Optometry Queensland and Northern Territory.
