It contains a removable tray holding 40 concave and convex lenses up to 20 D sph; 22 concave and 22 convex cylindrical lenses for measuring astigmatism up to 4 D cyl. There are 9 prism trial lenses of prismatic power up to 15 prism dioptres and 6 auxiliary lenses. Also included are (1) a later Oculus 4 cell trial frame held in a compartment in the lens tray, (2) under the internal lid flap are stored a folding distance visual acuity chart, two reading cards and a card produced by Optical Products Ltd showing the shapes and sizes of edged lenses, (3) stored in the compartment under the trial lens tray are three small original Bausch and Lomb boxes each with a range of shaped and edged ready-to-fit flat lenses of various powers and a number of cement bifocal lenses. Finally in this compartment was found a miniature antique propelling pencil made of gold plated metal and decorated with five turquoise stones set around the pencil slider, and a red glass seal in the finial.
