Description Of Item: Original red cloth cover, 260 x 205 mm, 91 pages, illustrated throughout in colour. Signature of former owner Harold Barton on front flyleaf.
Historical Significance: Edward Perkins MB FRCS was reader in ophthalmology at the Institute of Ophthalmology, University of London and the inventor of the Perkins Applanation tonometer (US patent US5070875 A 1971). Peter Hansell MB CS FRPS was the Director of Illustrations and photography at the Westminster Medical School and the Institute of Ophthalmology, University of London. Many Australian optometrists of the 1950 and 1960s found this book very useful because it was so well illustrated and had concise accompanying text.
