Description Of Item: Gold-filled rimless 4-hole spectacles with adjustable pads, unusually shaped lenses, curl sides and bridge marked Shuron 1/10 12 th 6F, glazed with glass single vision lenses of minimal power contained in maroon fabric covered metal snap case with red velvet lining. Case is stamped on top with W M PETTIT / CERTIFIED OPTICIAN / WARRAGUL / PHONE 178
Historical Significance: Shuron is a very well known optical products manufacturer founded in 1865. W M Pettit was one of the first optometrists to be registered in Victoria in 1936 (See Cat No 888) although he was in practice as a jeweller/optician before registration of optometrists commenced in 1936.
