Historical Significance: Janet` Stone FBOAHD, FSMC, FAAO, DCLP and Anthony Phillips MPhil, FBOAHD, FSMC, FAAO, DCLP were English optometrists who took a leading role in the field of contact lenses. This book was an important textbook in its time and had several editions, the last in 1981. Phillips published further books one under the simple title of 'Contact lenses' as co-editor with Lynne Speedwell, the most recent being a 5th edition published in 2006. Anthony Phillips migrated to Australia in 1982 to settle in Adelaide, where he established a specialist contact lens practice and was an adjust professor at Flinders University Medical School.
