Description Of Item: Four vials 40 mm high and 22 mm diameter with plastic resealable caps labelled Optima Colours, Base Curve 8.4 mm, Power Plano and Bausch and Lomb (Australia) Pty. Ltd. The bottom half of the label is coloured corresponding to the tint type on the label:Dark Green, Turquoise, Topaz or Grey. The Dark Green vial contains a tinted soft contact lens,the other vials are empty.
Historical Significance: These vials were supplied by Bausch an Lomb to store samples of their opaque tinted soft contact lenses. The lenses were supplied in blisters but after their first use, needed a storage means for disinfection before further demonstration. Rubber bung and crimped metal seals may have been used prior to the availability of the plastic seals. Lenses were also produced in 8.7 mm base curve. See Cat. No. 2600
