Description Of Item: Six screw capped vials 28 mm high and 20 mmm in diameter each containing one tinted soft contact lens. Colours Mid Blue (Lot No 1177), Mid Amber (Lot No 1170), Dark Blue (Lot No 1168), Dark Amber (Lot No 1171), Dark Aqua (Lot No 1178) and Dark Green (Lot No 1176) are hand-written on the vial . The TE logo and Titmus Eurocon are printed on the vial in blue. Parameters are typewritten on a circular label applied to the cap: ST/FL, +/-3.00, 13.00 or 13.50, WE and also a unique seven digit number The Lot No is typewritten on a label applied to the bottom of the vial. Lot numbers and the seven digit number follow in sequence except for the Dark Amber lens which has the lowest seven digit number and third lot no in sequence.
Historical Significance: Weicon (derived from the German 'weich' meaning soft) lenses were introduced by Titmus Eurocon in Germany in 1970 as a 38% HEMA lens. In 1972 TE introduced tinted and opaque tinted soft lenses. In 1980 the Weicon 38E with elliptical back surface in Flat/Steep form was introduced. These lenses are believed to be 38E lenses. Titmus Eurocon integrated with CIBA-Geigy in 1983.
