Mb) of Dr John Nathan on the occasion of conferring on him an honorary Doctor of Science degree of the University of Melbourne in 1994. Historical Significance: John Nathan was the first LOSc diplomate of the College in 1944. He was Clinic Director 1947 - 1949, Director of Studies 1950 to 1964 and the third President of the College from 1970 to 1978. He taught as a highly respected part time teacher for over 30 years and one of the team of three who started research in the Victorian College of Optometry in 1961.
