Description Of Item: White cardboard box 118 mm x 78 mm x 47 mm to the top of which is affixed a label with the words Gelflex Laboratories, Gelflex Colours Trial Set, BC 8.8 OD 14.2 BVD Plano, Fantasy Lt Bl, Lt Br, Lt Gr, Dk Gr, Aqua, Natural Blue, Brown, Grey, Glamour Disco, Serial No 148. The words Colours altered 1/98 are handwritten on the label. The box contains cardboard dividers and nine coloured soft contact lenses in vials with the words Contains one sterile 55% water content Hema copolymer soft contact lens immersed in 0.9% buffered non-preserved saline solution. Manufactured in FIN. BCOR 8, 8 Dia 14.2 Plan Expiry Date #003/0101 mf for Chrome-X on each label. Three vials include the word Natural and a coloured annular design and a corresponding colour description: Natural Blue, Natural Grey or Natural Brown. Five vials have a similar design and are labelled Fantasy and Aqua Opaque, Light Brown Opaque, Light Blue Opaque, Light Green Opaque or Dark Green Opaque. One vial has a yellow design and is labelled Glamour and Disco
Historical Significance: Gelflex distributed cosmetic coloured contact lenses for some years until launching their own Ningaloo lenses in 2008. The Glamour Disco lens fluoresces under ultra-violet light and was marketed for wear at discotheques. CL-Tinters OY was founded in 1993 by Freddie Bensky and was acquired by Coopervision in May 2001.
