Description Of Item: White rectangular plastic tray 265 mm x 78 mm x 12 mm with 20 circular indentations 21 mm in diameter and 10 mm deep and two rectangular indentations 337 mm x 6 mm x 6 mm with the words wohlk-contact-linsen and a logo printed in brown. Two clear plastic vials 30 mm high and 19 mm in diameter with a translucent stopper iare located in the circular indentations.
Historical Significance: Trays of this type were supplied to optometrists with up to 20 trial soft contact lenses. Each vial had the lens parameters typed on a circular adhesive label applied to the stopper of the vial. Wohlk manufactured HEMA soft lenses of 12.5 mm and 3.0 mm diameter and the trial lenses had base curves from 7.7 to 8.7 mm in 0.2 mm steps. A pure silicon soft contact lens was also manufactured.Wohlk contact lenses were distributed in Australia by their agent Wohlk Contact Lenses Pty Ltd in Dandenong, Victoria from 1975. Initially the lenses were made in Germany, then Singapore and later in Australia as facilities were established.
