Description Of Item: Unused postage stamp, 45 x 35 mm, green, portraying Franz Cornelius Donders, denomination 6 centimes.
Historical Significance: Donders wrote the foundation book for optometry 'On the anomalies of accommodation and refraction of the eye with a preliminary essay on physiological optics' in 1864. Donders (1818 - 1889) was Professor of Physiology and Ophthalmology at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. Cat Nos 56, 57, 68 and 78 are works by Donders held in by the Kett Optometry Museum.
