Description Of Item: Two blister packs in 'man' or 'tortoise' shape 55x35x8 mm each containing one soft toric contact lens with the words 'Toric Visitint' and Focus on the face. A description of the contents appears also in much smaller font. The lens parameters, batch number and expiry date apppear in black in the centre of the face. The lenses are examples of the 8.9 base curves and plus and minus lenses.
Historical Significance: Ciba Vision launched the first toric disposable soft contact lenses in 1992, 1998 marked the change from the initial square blister (Ref Cat No. 2416) to the so-called man or tortoise shape. The blue handling tint was also introduced at that time.The clear lenses had location marks at 3, 6, and 9 0'clock. The front surface was spherical and the back surface toroidal in design. The lens material was Vifilcon A, a 55% water content material and a development of the earlier Bionite material.
