Historical Significance: Charles G Jenkin was a Malvern optometrist, son of Walter Jenkin, a jeweller who was registered as an optometrist based on experience in the initial registration of optometrists in Victoria in 1936 (Reg. No. 262). Charles completed an apprenticeship as a jeweller and also qualified as an optometrist with the qualification F.V.O.A. in 1943. He retired in 1977. The telephone number would have been current up to the early 1950s and suggests that could have been one of Mr. Jenkin's first pieces of equipment.
