Description Of Item: Two plastic blister packs 77 x 41 x 12 mm with the words Precision UV (vasurfilcon A) Contact Lens and lens parameters incuding expiry date of 07/96 (+7.00 lens), 05/98 (-4.50 lens) on the right section of the label and CONTENTS: Each lens package contains one STERILE contact lens immersed In buffered saline solution 26% vasurfilcon A, 74% water. CAUTION; FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS DISPENSING WITHOUT PRESCRIPTION, Lot , and PBH Pilkington Barnes Hind, Sunnyvale, CA, 94086 on the left section. A red label with the inscription Diagnostic Lens NOT FOR SALE in white lettering is affixed to the main label. One blister in gallery display.
Historical Significance: Precision UV was a monthly disposable, daily wear lens with a high water content (74%) introduced by Pilkington Barnes Hind (PBH) in 1993 to replace the Calendar lens which was a similar lens but supplied in vials. An ultraviolet block was added to make Precison UV the first monthly disposable with a UV filter. PBH was acquired by Wesley-Jessen in 1996 and later by Ciba Vision in 2000.
