Historical Significance: This is detailed and comprehensive history of the development of contact lenses by Tim Bowden, a UK optometrist practising in Gravesend Kent UK. Bowden is a part time lecturer in contact lenses in the City and Islington College London, which provides an optical dispenser course. He is active in the development and curating of the contact lens collection in the museum of the College of Optometrists London. It includes many references to Australian contact lens pioneers including Don Ezekiel and Penhryn Thomas.There is a second copy in the Heweet Collection Cat No 1241
