Historical Significance: Dr Stutterheim MD was an ophthalmologist who obtained his medical qualifications in South Africa and also worked in Holland. His book revolves about his realisation in the 1920s that orthoptics can be useful in the treatment of strabismus in the 1920s . He also wrote a monograph on 'Indications for kinetic treatment of the eyes' 1931 and books 'Eyestrain and convergence' 1937 and 'introduction to di-ophthalmology' 1950.
