Historical Significance: The Illinois College of Optometry claims a heritage from 1872 although that is back to a private College of Ophthalmology and Otology that taught optician courses, although possibly not from 1872 but later. It was taken over by a private college of optometry and then after further mergers ultimately became the present College. The first four chapters of this book trace this lineage with some very nice illustrations (and others that seem to be there just for decorative purposes).
