Historical Significance: James Forrest MB ChB held appointments at several London hospitals. According to the preface the book was written to provide a general knowledge of eye diseases. The intended readership in not clear but it could have been for opticians since the book was proof read by a Mr H L Taylor who is the author of books on optics and bifocals.The book was originally in the Library of the Victorian Optical Association (now the OAA Vic Div) and was given to the VCO when it was formed in 1939
