Historical Significance: This is a facsimile of a book by London Optician Benjamin Martin first published in 1756. The book ran to at least five editions in the 1750s. It is largely a promotion of the authors spectacles, known as 'Martin's Margins' but includes basic information on the anatomy and physiology of the eye and advice on the selection of glasses.
