Description Of Item: Original cloth, 170 pages, 61 illustrations in text and 9 colour plates. Also includes an interesting illustrated price list of optometrical equipment.
Historical Significance: This book is sub-titled a 'Treatise for opticians'. The book is significant in being an early text by a London based eye surgeon for optometrists of the early 20th C. James Forrest MB ChB held appointments at several London hospitals. According to the preface the book was written to provide a general knowledge of eye diseases. The book was proof read by a Mr H L Taylor who is the author of books on optics and bifocals. The Museum has two copies of the 2nd Edition Cat Nos 88 and 183.
