Historical Significance: John Parsons FRS (1868-1957) was a prominent British ophthalmologist with a special interest in pathology. He published a 4 volume 'Pathology of the Eye' in 1904-8. He also had an interest in colour blindness and published 'Introduction to colour vision' in 1915. See Duke Elder S. John Parsons. Biographical Memoirs of Fellows of the Royal Society 1958; 4: 204-214. This is his first book but he became famous for his standard text book on Diseases of the Eye see Cat No 301
