Historical Significance: Frank Twyman FRS FInstPhys, President of the Optical society, worked for Hilger and designed spectroscopes and an interferometer (The Tywman Green interferometer pictured) that bears his name. He wrote a number of books on spectroscopy and spectrophotometry and prisms.
