He was a physicist who developed a passion for biological science and had worked with Dr (later Professor) Jack Pettigrew FRS at CalTech and came with him to the NVRI. He subsequently moved to Swinburne University where he was promoted to Professor in Swinburne's Brain Sciences Institute.
