It is inscribed on the inside front cover with the words S S 'Suervic' March 30 1903' Historical Significance: The antecedents of this book are unknown. It seems to be a note book of a student of optometry in 1903. It covers a wide syllabus and indicates a good knowledge of optics but some of the notes about diseases of the eye either reflect lack of knowledge of the day, or unsophisticated standards of education of optometrists.
