Historical Significance: Atkinson was a prolific writer of didactic text books intended to educate optometrists of the early 20thC in the then new art of refraction (refraction this book, retinoscopy Cat No 514 and binocular vision Cat No 477 ) and the optometrists expanded role in detection of eye diseases (Cat no 248). He wrote many other books in addition, on visual psychology, visual fields and functional diagnosis. He was associated with the Northern Illinois College of Optometry.
