Historical Significance: The College sought to provide education for its members from its foundation in the form of post graduate lectures. The annual report of 1945 records that ophthalmologist Dr Naylor gave a course of post-graduate lectures with an average attendance of 40. Later Annual Reports similarly report on the post-graduate lectures given. In the 1960s the College with the Australian Optometrical Association Victorian Division organised several conferences known as the Southern Regional Conference. In 1976 the College formalised its planning of regular annual continuing education by establishing a Board of Continuing Education to organise and run an annual program of lectures, short courses and other continuing education services. From that year it published a monthly newletter circulated to members of the College but in earlier years it published an irregular newsletter, of which this item is one example. It includes an editorial (on the shortage of students), an article by G H Henry on the physiology of glaucoma, a note to clinicans and an article on 'Grief cases' written under a pseudonym of 'Lucky dip'
