Historical Significance: Joseph I. Pascal, B.S., M.A., O.D., M.D. first trained as an optometrist and later qualified in medicine. He was Director of the Eye Department , Stuyvesant Polyclinic, New York and Associate Ophthalmologist and lecturer at the Polyclinic Medical School and Hospital. He was formerly, Director of the American Institute of Optometry and Lecturer in Physiological Optics at the Massachusetts College of Optometry. He also wrote The optometrist's handbook of eye diseases with Harold Greeley Noyes (1954), Modern retinoscopy, including the principles and practice of velono-skiascopy (1930) and A new application of the Raubitschek arrow test (1954).
