Historical Significance: The first edition of this book was published in 1946. Gibson also published Textbook of orthoptics in 1955. (see cat No 1367). Gibson FBOA FSMC DOrth was an English optometrist who was senior staff orthoptist and lecturer in orthoptics at the London Refraction Hospital George Giles published an earlier (1938, 1943) text book on orthoptics for British optometry students (see Cat # 195, 196)
